The moral, social and psychological dimensions of the Arbaeen pilgrimage in the individual dimension of the human being

The Arbaeen pilgrimage of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him) is considered one of the most important historical periods for the lovers of the family of the Prophet (peace be upon them), which has become a turning point in the history of Islam due to its effects on the personality of the individual, such as its tremendous impact on the personal and social morals of the participants in the Arbaeen march because the Messenger of God (may God bless him and his family and grant them peace) and his pure family are the source of all virtues, good morals and a secure soul. Imam Hussein (peace be upon him) followed the same goals and biography of the Noble Messenger during his honorable life, especially during his journey towards Karbala, the journey that accompanied his path, his sermons and messages of wisdom, lessons and good sermons, and it was the nucleus that made the Arbaeen pilgrimage of the martyrdom of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him) have great moral and spiritual dimensions. In this article, we review the most prominent of them

 Self-improvement and soul purification

According to the narrations, walking to visit Imam Hussein (peace be upon him) has a great reward, but the condition for achieving that great reward and values is providing the psychological and spiritual conditions, the most important of which is inner purity and perseverance, which are against physical tendencies and moral vices. Visitors of Abu Abdullah (peace be upon him) seek, during their visit to the Arbaeen of Imam Hussein, to search for those moral and spiritual models in all scenes of life and choose their lifestyle. Visiting His Holiness Abu Abdullah (peace be upon him) and his martyred sons and companions, who are a manifestation of Gods light and an embodiment of purity and pure servitude to God and purity of the self, makes visitors realize their faults and paves the way for them to return and repent. Therefore, walking to visit His Holiness Abu Abdullah (peace be upon him) is a good opportunity to return to the originality of the individual and a gateway to his development and purification of the interior from all pollution and vices and adorn it with moral and behavioral virtues.

Dignity and Distinction from Creation

Following the path of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him) leads to the elevation of the human personality and dignity, and the Arbaeen march is a form of self-expression and declaration of position against enemies, and revives the spirit of seeking honor, and avoiding humiliation because any kind of heartfelt and faith-based connection to those pure lights brings a sense of dignity and value to the individual, and the inability of entities, nations and governments to humiliate and subjugate the followers and lovers of the Household of the Prophet (peace be upon them) throughout history is the result of the lessons they learned from the educational school of the Household of the Prophet (peace be upon them), especially from the Arbaeen pilgrimage of the Master of Martyrs and the lessons and morals derived from it.

 Teaching yourself patience and forbearance

The Arbaeen pilgrimage on foot is accompanied by all kinds of hardship and bitterness such as physical fatigue, blisters on the feet, muscle cramps, sunburn, insomnia, and the like, which requires patience to walk towards the Qiblah of the free. The Arbaeen pilgrimage is a practical lesson to increase patience. Facing the hardships of the road, enduring the lack of relaxation, and the fatigue of the journey makes people who have always been prosperous in life and have more facilities and have not tasted the taste of hardship change their attitude towards life.

Teaching yourself generosity, social solidarity, and belonging to the group

In the state of the awaited Imam (may Allah hasten his reappearance), no one will be hungry or homeless, no one will be in need, and all people will try to help others in any way possible. It has been narrated about the post-appearance era that there will be no needy people because all people spend their money and strength for the good of others without hesitation, and each according to his financial, economic and scientific ability, everyone helps each other and familiarity spreads among people. This type of humane treatment, sacrifice, charitable work and security can currently be seen in the Arbaeen procession. The processions and caravans of Hussein are an example of solidarity and social unity. Based on this, the Arbaeen procession can be considered a living model of the qualities of the social state in the era of the coming of the Imam of the Age (may Allah hasten his reappearance), and it paves the way for the individual to acquire these qualities of generosity and social solidarity.
